U02 - WebWSPR:

WSPR Operation

To display the user interface, select the IP address of the WSPR computer in any device in your home network in the Internet browser. The user interface has the following windows and controls:

SETUP:

at the first start this window will be shown first so you can enter your data (click to enlarge):

Default password: abcd, which must be entered with every change.

The password is located at the beginning of the file kmtools.php in the HTML directory and can be changed if necessary.

The settings are self-explanatory, a short note is in the right column.

Here is a note about a special feature of WebWSPR:

Station for comparison

Of course, WebWSPR will display the WSPR spots of your own call sign. The appeal of WebWSPR, however, is the ability to compare your spots with other stations. You can enter up to 5 additional call signs in the setup and mark one of them. It  is displayed in the spot lists in the right column.

When all settings have been entered, enter the password (default: abcd) and press "SAVE config".

menu bar:

this bar is the same in all windows:

the three round displays top left, here green colored:

WSPR (green / red) ... indicates if the WSPR program is active on the Linux computer
Microphone icon (green / red) ... indicates if the sound card is recognized and initialized
Round arrow icon ... becomes active as soon as the K1JT decoder analyzes the audio signal recorded by the sound card, which happens every 2 minutes.

green bar: indicates the expiration of a 2-minute WSPR interval

yellow bar: RX level indicator or solid bar at TX. The modulation should be between 5 and 80%.

2way result: the number of 2-way spots confirmed this month (on the band selected in the SPOTS window).

the blue buttons are used to select the different windows, which are described below:

WebWSPR:

this is the main window, on the right the waterfall and on the left the display of the currently received spots.

List operation:this applies to all lists in WebWSPR: by clicking on the column headers, the list can be sorted.

In this window there are two buttons on the top right to turn the WSPR program on and off. To do this you must enter the password in the input field.

Switching off is necessary if you want to use the sound card for other purposes, e.g. for other digital modes.

Spots:

Here all spots (RX and TX) are listed chronologically or statistically. A special is the 2-way statistic, here you can see all contacts which took place in both directions.

There are 6 different tables available, selected by the radio buttons are on the top right.

The left half shows your own callsign. In the right half the second call sign is displayed which was selected in the setup menu. Due to the special sorting you can compare the efficiency of the two stations directly. Better spots are colored green.

Ranking:

Our ham radio friend KB9AMG has a great website where he generates a lot of statistics with a lot of computational effort. Especially interesting for us are the 2-way connections, spots in both directions.

KB9AMG's calculations are reformatted to fit the lists. Here you can measure the performance of your own station with other stations worldwide.

Map:

Here for both RX and TX, for the own station and the second station, the spots for the set band and the set period are displayed.

RX / TX QRG:

a very important window. Here you select the bands for RX and TX as well as the transmission interval. Additionally six timers are available to select specific bands at certain times of the day.

First, you choose the bands on which you want to receive (green) and where you want to transmit (red). In addition, the transmission interval of e.g. 10 mins. After entering the password and pressing "SAVE SETTINGS" the settings will be applied.

At the bottom you find a RX/TX Interval Overview for all 2-min intervals in 24h. Here you get a good overview about RX and TX times.

In addition, you can activate timers, which are highlighted in the overview list.

SETUP:

Enter your personal settings here, this is already described in chapter software installation.

Be sure to enter the call sign, QTHlocator and CAT mode. You should change the TX offset frequency so that not everyone sends on the same frequency.

After entering the password (default: abcd) and pressing "SAVE config" the entries are saved.
